We do our free medical mission programs mainly in Imo State in the southeastern part of Nigeria in West Africa. Nigeria is one of the wealthiest countries (if not the wealthiest country) in sub-Saharan Africa; yet there is poverty everywhere. Many adults and children have no access to primary healthcare services that they need.
An important aspect of our free medical mission programs is the rapid testing, counseling and distribution of medications for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, and other sexually transmitted diseases. We also raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, and other diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, diabetes, hypertension, respiratory and other tropical diseases.
Our work requires a collective effort. We work in collaboration with local medical professionals: doctors, pharmacists, nurses, as well as other caring volunteers. Working alongside our local partners, we work to implement disease prevention programs, conduct screenings, distribute medicines, as well as continuing healthcare services after our free medical mission program trips are over; and to strengthen the healthcare system of the communities we serve.
