Our story

The Rev. Dr. Isaac I. Ihiasota is the founder, president and CEO of Father Isaac's Foundation, Inc., (FIF), USA. He has traveled on twenty (20) medical mission trips to Nigeria, since 1988! The first medical mission trip was made possible by a gift donation by one of his former parishioners, to help him pay his tuition fees at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. Instead, Father Isaac used the gift donation to pay for this first medical mission; inspired by the words of Jesus to go: "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8).

On this first medical mission trip, Father Isaac carried with him several suitcases (as excess luggage) full of medical supplies and medicines from World Medical Relief (WMR), Detroit, Michigan (now headquartered in a northern suburb of Detroit, Southfield, Michigan). WMR is an organization that supports medical mission aids and trips around the world with surplus medicines and medical supplies.

In the summer of 2017, by chance or accident (by providence, really), Father Isaac met Dr. Julius Nwosu, the president and CEO of Community Healthcare Network Hospital, in New York! He persuaded and convinced Father Isaac to partnership with him on their first medical mission trip together.

In July 2018, Father Isaac and Dr. Nwosu traveled with Franklin, Jr. Foundation, a New York based organization on this first medical mission trip. Working in collaboration with local healthcare professionals: doctors; nurses; pharmacists; and other healthcare volunteers, they were able to treat about one thousand five hundred (1,500) patients in two (2) days!

In April 2019, Father Isaac founded and formed Father Isaac's Foundation, Inc., (FIF), USA! The foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, non-governmental, and public charity organization. It's dedicated to healing, giving hope, and improving the lives of those in need. The mission of the foundation is to provide healthcare free of charge to the poor, the needy, and less privileged, who have no other access to primary healthcare services.

Since 2019, when the foundation was founded, Father Isaac has traveled on several medical mission trips. He has traveled almost yearly, with donations from individuals and organizations; support and prayers of churches (his family, friends, former and current parishioners); and all who share in his commitment, passion and vision. The foundation has giving hope, saved lives and healed the sick, by providing free healthcare to the most vulnerable: the poor, the needy and less privileged.

The foundation is committed to healing the sick, saving and transforming lives, giving hope to the poor, the needy and the most vulnerable. In addition, improving the healthcare services in the place where it serves in southeastern Nigeria.

In January 2020, Father Isaac and Dr. Nwosu traveled on a second medical mission; a third in January 2022; a fourth in January 2023; a fifth in January 2024; a sixth in January 2025; a seventh in January 2026; and planning and hoping for an eighth in January 2027! 

Dr. Julius Nwosu travels on free medical mission twice a year. Both Dr. Nwosu and Father Isaac are very passionate, committed and dedicated to improving the lives of those in need and the most vulnerable. They provide high-quality healthcare, free of charge, to the poor, the needy, and less privileged, who have no access to any kind of healthcare. Some of their patients have never ever seen by a doctor or a nurse before. Dr. Nwosu and Father Isaac are truly committed to providing free healthcare, healing the sick, giving hope, saving and transforming the lives of the people they serve; and making a difference.
